Learning Not to Over Complicate Things

Growth for me sometimes has meant learning the same lesson over and over until it really sticks in my head. One that still often bests me, but I've been better at catching, lately is forgetting to tell myself "Don't over complicate things".

You've created a new note-taking and task tracking method for work? Keep it simple, otherwise you'll overwhelm yourself trying to create some unique way to track a task that's more of a small ask from your manager or that meeting note that may be useful to have in two or three other locations.

Want to use physical books to track and journal different parts of your everyday life? Keep it contained and mold whatever medium you already possess into a system that works for you. Otherwise you'll be buying a new notebook every few weeks convincing yourself that this one will allow for the exact layout you're looking for.

Want to be more present in online spaces? Don't feel pressured to exist on every platform possible and end up overwhelming yourself trying to maintain each and every one of them identically.

In a similar fashion to the weightlifting advice of "The best workout is the one that will keep you coming back", the best system is one that you can keep up with.
